developing AI awareness

An important reason for language educators to focus on developing critical reading and discourse analytic abilities among learners that help them develop awareness of, and maybe even learn to detect, text written by artificial intelligence. There are tools for detecting AI-written text already, but there’s no doubt these texts will become so frequent and ubiquitous that unless readers know when to suspect it and what might typify it — using only their judgement skills as a tool — they may overlook it and ultimately be prone to its effect, for good or bad. There is a human behind an AI text who has prompted it, with an intention, purpose and audience in mind, but the techniques and references that the AI utilizes are far quicker and probably more sophisticated than that human could write. An AI text still has a purpose and usually an audience that can be discerned.
